Holiday in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar | Sonmarg | Gulmarg | Pahalgam | Vaishnav Devi, Katra | Amrtisar
There is only one path to Heaven. Its definately goes via. Valleys in Kashmir
We went for holiday from 12th April to 19th April. Our Itineary was:
12th April - Arrival in Srinagar, Shikara Ride, Stay in house boat
13th April - Local Sighseeing (various gardens), Tulip Festival, Lal chowk Market
14th April - Trip to Sonmarg and return
15th April - Trip to Gulmarg, enjoy gondola, skiing etc and finally stay at Resort in Tangmarg
16th April - Trip to Pahalgam, do local sightseeing and finally stay at hotel in Pahalgam
17th April - Leave for Katra checkin and enjoy market place
18th April - Trek to Vaishnav Devi Temple
19th April - Day sightseeing in Amritsar and departure

Let me specify good things and fun we had during the entire trip:
- Our flight landed in Srinagar at 4:30pm (ontime). Our cab took us for Shikara Ride at 6pm. We enjoyed the Shikara Ride in Dal Lake. Myself and my spouse we both did Water Skiing at Rs.400 per person for Medium size trip in Dal Lake.
- Post shikara ride, we checkedin to house boat. The house boat we stayed in was "Kingdom of Kings" at Dal Lake Gate no.9. It was good stay and decent food. My guess, it was worth Rs. 2200 per night per room for double occupancy (incl. MAP plan).
- We enjoyed going

Definately Negotiate the rates !!! The Double Occupancy Room with MAP people got at 2036 INR per night (incl all taxes) - this was little off season. Rates do differ while booking on phone vs. at counter.
This hotel is midway between gulmarg and srinagar, still its not so far as Gulmarg itself is very close to srinagar. Its good hotel with decent surrounding and view from hotel. Food is very good. Staff is helpful. Rooms are big. The balcony in the rooms facing peaks were not well maintained or cleaned.

This hotel is few kms before Pahalgam City. Its next to the river. The staff, food and service was very good. They provided free wifi network. Good and Large Rooms.
HOTEL DEVI MAHAL

This hotel is very close to Katra market. They provide free pickup and drop from market and Vaishnov Devi trip starting point. The staff, food and service was good. The chef in hotel offers to sell very small bottle of oil at extraordinarily high price and its of no use. Rooms are available here at 1100 Rs per night for non AC and 1400 per night for AC room. They are also available online at higher rates. But, if you call them on above number or book room by visiting the hotel you can get above rates.
